Salisbury is a wonderful city to cycle in and around. We are so fortunate to be able to reach the city center with 10-15 minutes from the residential estates.
A new online Salisbury cycling map has been launched to show traffic-free and low-traffic routes. The map came about following the development and publication of the “mymaps” Oxford Cycle Map to illustrate safer-cycling routes to key places in the city, such as schools, colleges, shops as well as leisure and social facilities. These routes have been chosen by local cyclists to demonstrate traffic-free and low-traffic routes across the city that they frequently use.
A number of cyclists have also been updating maps with traffic and low traffic routes and below is an example of what is available on Open Street Maps (OSM). OSM can used to identify and find routes across the city and also as a route finder when you are out and about. What is useful is that many of the cycle racks and bike storage facilities around the city have also been identified by local volunteers.
