It’s fantastic to hear that Wiltshire Council have been awarded £169,000 in funding from Active Travel Funding. The money is going to be used to improve facilities for walk, wheel and cycle around the whole county.
Of the £169,000 there is £29,000 that will be used to progress the design of a Park Wall to Lower Road shared‑use path in Quidhampton, an important missing link on the Wilton-Salisbury active travel corridor. The rest of the funding is earmarked to fund the construction of School Streets, where five Wiltshire schools will take part in a trial of the now well-publicised school streets programme: https://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/article/15045/School-Streets
While only a small proportion of the funding is earmarked directly for use in Salisbury, it’s great to see Wiltshire Council applying for money to spend on Active Travel – and we can only hope that we can see an expansion of the School Streets programme.
