Clean, green, efficient and pollution free electric buses are arriving in the city. A fleet of 30 brand-new electric buses is being brought to Salisbury following an investment of more than £15m by Salisbury Reds and Wiltshire Council, alongside funding from the Government’s Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas (ZEBRA) 2 scheme.

These UK built buses will include 18 double deckers and 12 single deckers and represent the city’s latest step toward sustainable transport.

This is a major contribution to transport improvement in the city. Whilst Wiltshire Council are delighted with this investment there is much work to do as the lived experience for bus users is that the buses  can be car bound in our narrow city streets  – as a result it can take up to twenty minutes to travel from the Market Square to Exeter St Round about or Castle st roundabout!

We’re excited to invite the community to join us in celebrating this major investment by Salisbury Reds and Wiltshire Council. On Friday 20 March, we will be officially launching our 30 brand-new electric buses.

To mark the occasion, Salisbury Reds are hosting a special celebration event in Salisbury Market Place where everyone is welcome to come along, enjoy the atmosphere and discover more about the future of zero emission bus travel in Salisbury.

From midday, the Salisbury Reds team will be in the Market Place welcoming visitors and showcasing some of our new electric buses. This will be a great opportunity to step on board, explore the vehicles and see first-hand what makes these buses such an exciting step forward for public transport in our city.
