Manor Fields School is looking for a new School Crossing Patrol Officer,  a friendly, reliable “lollipop person” who helps children start and end their school day safely.

Your role is far more than guiding families across the road. It’s about becoming a trusted part of the community, building daily connections, and protecting children with care and confidence. Many officers say they become a familiar face the children look forward to seeing, often the highlight of their morning or afternoon.

A role that truly matters

As a School Crossing Patrol Officer, you become a real-life superhero in the eyes of the children. They rely on you, trust you, and feel happy when they see you. You’ll make a genuine difference every day as you manage traffic and ensure they can cross safely.

Walking to school and taking part in active travel is great for children’s health, wellbeing, and independence and your presence gives them the confidence to do it. Healthy children grow into healthy adults, and your support plays a vital part in that journey.

A rewarding job with real community impact

Wiltshire Council will pay £25,600 per annum (pro rata) for this role and the hours are just half an hour each morning and half an hour each afternoon during term time.

Yes, you’ll need waterproofs for winter weather, and you’ll occasionally deal with impatient drivers. But the rewards far outweigh the challenges. You’ll be part of the Manor Fields family, greeting children, chatting with parents, and seeing the impact of your work every single day.

Interested in making a difference?

If you’d like a meaningful, community‑focused role where you can see the value of your work immediately, we’d love to hear from you.
